Year Four Wider Opportunities Violin Performance

July 13th, 2011 · 1 Comment · Uncategorized

Welcome to our second Year Four performance of this academic year.

We really enjoy singing as part of our Wider Opportunities lessons and are going to begin our performance by singing two songs for you, No Wars Will Stop Us Singing and I’m A Believer.

Y4 ‘No War Will Stop Us Singing’ from Leamore Primary School on Vimeo.

I’m A Believer from Leamore Primary School on Vimeo.

We have made really good progress on the violin and now play on all four strings with ease using up to three fingers down on each string. We will now demonstrate this by playing three scales, A, D and G major.

We are now going to play three pieces which use the A string, Two At Twilight, Mr.Cool, and Swingtime Stroll.

May 26th, 2011 · 2 Comments · Uncategorized

Year Four have been investigating the different types of foods that Australians eat. The children have tasted things like Vegemite, which wasn’t very popular in class! Year Four have also been following recipes so that they can create their own Australian foods. Here is a recipe for Jam Thumb Print biscuits, presented as a cookery show. Watch out for the next cookery show, where the children make Koala biscuits!

Aboriginal Dot Painting On Boomerangs

May 24th, 2011 · 2 Comments · Uncategorized

One of the activities that Year Four did as part of their ‘Australia Day’ was to decorate boomerangs using an Aboriginal dot painting technique. Aboriginals would have used natural materials and a stick to make the patterns, but Year Four used cotton buds! The circles on the painted boomerangs symbolise water holes. What other facts have you learn about Aboriginal dot painting?

Do you want the dangerous wolves back in Yellowstone Park?

The plan to release these vicious wolves is a bad one.

Firstly, the wolves will attack campers in the night while they are snoring and they might ambush little baby kids. Also, hikers could be slayed and raided.

In addition, the blood thirsty wolves could kill off all the wildlife and if there is no wildlife, people won’t come and look and if there are no people, there will be no business.

Furthermore, the vicious beasts could ocme into town and damage other peoples’ property like their homes, cars and motorbikes. The wolves will bite, brake all the trafic lights which will cause crashes and accidents.

Lastly, we need you to not put these cunning creatures in Yellow Stone Park. We need your help!
